Brighton Exiles are a travelling side and Sandon Strollers did their best to accommodate the nomads, especially as the weather forecast for the afternoon wasn’t promising at all.
Strollers took the field in light drizzle and when a wicket fell in the 3rd over it was deemed too wet to continue. So with true English patience we waited out what the weather man promised would be only an hour of rain ……. and he was right!!
We took an early tea, and with the match restricted to 25 overs each Strollers bowled Brighton out in the last over for 134 runs. Joe Coker, Keith Rogers and Will Budd both took 2 wickets each in their 5 overs.
By now there was glorious sunshine! After some more tea and cake again Strollers took to the crease, but with regular wickets falling we were all out for 101 runs in 22 overs.
All in all we had a great day’s cricket and it all ended down at The Moon and Stars pub for some refreshing liquid to celebrate the day.
