Pirton put Sandon into bat on the Strollers ground for our first home game.
There was a bit of uneven bounce to start with which slowed our scoring. After a good opening stand of 47 between Ian Bandy [13] and Amarjit Singh [27] we got to 104/9 after our 40 overs. Simeon with a quick fire 22 and Joe Croker got 17.
Special mention must be made for Paul Heath blocking out some good deliveries from their top bowler who had just got a hat trick.
After a great tea from Lynda Dix, our bowlers did a good job in keeping it tight but with not enough runs on the board Pirton got to 105/5 in 27 overs.
Simeon Green led the way with figures of 7.5 overs, 3 wickets for 21 runs. Well supported by Joe Croker with 4 overs for only 9 runs. John Inman had 1 for 14 off his 5 overs and a really tight spell from Henry Hughes; 5 overs, 2 maidens 0/10
The interest level has picked up as there were 9 players on the team sheet already for the next game away in Hare Street- which is great to see Strollers!
