After two failed attempts the season started for the Strollers with a trip to Whaddon. On a beautiful early May day the setting at Whaddon was stunning. A special thanks to Paul Wastell and Matt Inman for playing at the last minute.
Strollers lost the toss and were asked to bat. Strollers scored 195 for 8 from 36 overs. Several good contributions, but the highlight was Mark Kings splendid 50 – it was though not without controversy. A straight six bouncing off the bonnet of a car parked close to the boundary created a few minutes of excitement! Strollers are now quite knowledgeable about such matters!! Simeon hit a quick 42.
After tea Whaddon set off with all guns blazing to reach 75 for 0 from the first 7 overs – Simeon Green though with two quick wicket brought the game back under control and after 30.1 overs Whaddon were dismissed for 160.
Thanks to all who took up the challenge to bowl – particularly Jerome Green and Paul Heath. Wickets were shared around; Amajit Singh, Tom Wornham, John Inman all taking 2 wickets. Matt Inman 1 and Simeon 3. Ian Bandy took his stumping very well and Mark King took the first catch of the season.
